A Lesson in „Inclusion“

Have you ever been in a situation where your organization was under pressure from all sides—quality issues in manufacturing, increasing backorders, retention challenges due to restructuring, excessive expectations on short-term financial results?

And then, all eyes from senior leaders across functions—commercial, manufacturing, quality—turn to the Supply Chain team, as if they alone were responsible for fixing everything.

I’ve been there. In one such moment, I could sense the skepticism in the room—did I and my team have what it took to resolve these complex issues?
Then, the leader of the organization spoke up in front of everyone:
“ 𝐖𝐞 𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐤 𝐚 𝐥𝐨𝐭 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧. 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧. 𝐇𝐞𝐥𝐦𝐮𝐭, 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐝𝐞 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐝—𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐲 𝐢𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐲 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐢𝐬 𝐬𝐮𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐰𝐞 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐛𝐞 𝐬𝐮𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐚𝐬 𝐚𝐧 𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧.“

That statement changed the dynamic instantly. Instead of a Supply Chain problem, it became a shared challenge which we finally mastered as a team.

It made me wonder—how often do we hold back from asking for support because we feel the need to prove we can do it alone? And how much more could we achieve if we truly embraced collaboration?
